Hello! Time is flying by at Westwood Middle School. Many exciting things are happening with concerts, classroom activities and many other things. There isn't ever a boring day.
If you have attended a concert already this fall, you have seen our new cafeteria/multi-purpose space. It is so awesome! Until the Fine Arts Center is completed, we will continue to hold our concerts here at Westwood. Next week, you will also see some of our students sing at Northtown for their holiday concert performances. They always make us proud!
We have our next parent meeting on Monday, December 22 at 6:30. We will learn about an online program available for parents to access additional educational resources. I would love to see you there!

Mid-November
I don't know about anyone else but I find it hard to believe that it is the middle of November already! In just under two weeks it will be the end of the trimester and our year will be 1/3 over. I don't know where the time goes.
I was so impressed last night with our young thespians and the fabulous job they did performing 18 Reasons Not To Be In A Play in the Team Teaching Room. This year was a bit of a challenge with construction deciding what kind of play to do, where to perform etc. The directors (Julie Fahey and Tricia Miller) did an outstanding job and the students were awesome! It was very well done.
As you may have heard, we opened our new cafeteria/multi-purpose room this week. It was a thrill to see the looks on the faces of the students as they realized the "wall" had been opened to the hallway leading to the space. As they peaked in they all became very excited. Food Service now has a beautiful equipment with lots of functioning equipment and the students have an incredibly pleasant environment to enjoy their lunch. If you come to school and have a couple of extra minutes (it still takes a couple of minutes to walk down there from our existing entrance), stop in and take a peak.
Our next parent meeting is scheduled for December 22nd. I know this is not an ideal date. I couldn't meet on the last Monday in November because I have an event I need to attend with my two kids. Waiting until January seemed like an awfully long time to wait. We also typically use that date in January to meet with 8th grade parents regarding EXPLORE test results.
As always, please let me know if you have questions or comments!

Greetings!
Hello Parent Bloggers!
I am hoping that everyone received the E-News notifying parents that the parent meeting scheduled for Monday, October 27th has been cancelled. The next available evening to reschedule is Monday, December 22nd.
This week was our fundraiser pick up. I truly appreciate the efforts on the part of our families to support our fundraising efforts. With the money raised, we are able to provide many, many more enriching experiences and resources for the classroom.
Next week is Halloween. Please remember that costumes are not appropriate for school. It will be exciting enough as it is!

The 1st blog!
Hi Everyone!
This is my first attempt at a blog! I hope that as time goes on, we find that this becomes another valuable method of communication. Please check weekly for updates. Also, if you have a question that you think might be helpful for others as well, please feel free to post it on the blog. This should be really cool!
Our monthly newsletter is going in the mail this week. Enclosed you will find information regarding professional development that is occurring on the student release days this week as well as information for next week's conferences. Watch for it in the mail!
Have a great week!
Paula
